EGW starts with 4140 Chrome molly steel heat treated to 30-34 Rc hardness. The lug is 0.250 thick and is machined from solid so there are no rolled edges like a stamped lug. Next they add a small bevel around the leading edge and rounded the bottom corners for improved looks and removal from bedding. After all the mill work is done they grind the part to size to insure flatness.


The Savage recoil lug is 1 1/8 diameter for the new larger barrel Savage action.
