Sadly, not many will understand the title of this post “Kneel Where Our Loves are Sleeping”.<\/p>\n
“Kneel Where Our Loves are Sleeping” is a hymn by Nella L. Sweet that carried the dedication to\u00a0the women who decorated the graves of our fallen.<\/p>\n
As we all enjoy\u00a0the three day weekend and soak up family and friends for an extra day, we should not\u00a0lose sight of\u00a0what Memorial day honors.\u00a0 Looking out at the beautiful landscape of Steamboat Colorado I’m\u00a0in total awe of what beauty we have in this country,\u00a0 and a sense of pride\u00a0fills me.\u00a0 This is mine and yours, this is ours. We are\u00a0able to enjoy this land as free people.<\/p>\n
If we want to climb to the top of the highest mountain we can, if we want to drop a line in the water we can, why?\u00a0 Because we’re Americans and free.\u00a0 However, freedom is not “free”, actually it’s quite costly.\u00a0 My freedom comes at\u00a0the\u00a0cost of\u00a0our men and women who have, are, and will be\u00a0fighting\u00a0for it.\u00a0\u00a0The cost doesn’t stop there, not even close.\u00a0 For those of you\u00a0who haven’t\u00a0witnessed a son say goodbye to a father or a father say goodbye to a son knowing it may be the last time please do, and you’ll\u00a0just start to understand.\u00a0 Ask a child of a fallen solider about his dad and he’ll shoot straight.\u00a0 His dad is the “strongest, fastest, toughest, bravest man in the world”, and he’s right.<\/p>\n
On Dec 2000 our country passed a resolution to help us\u00a0all remember why we get that extra day to\u00a0flex our freedoms.\u00a0 The resolution\u00a0is known as the\u00a0“National\u00a0Moment of Remembrance” and\u00a0asks that at 3 p.m. local time, for all Americans “To voluntarily and informally observe in their own way a moment of remembrance and respect, pausing from whatever they are doing for a moment of silence or listening to ‘Taps.”<\/p>\n
For all that is beautiful in this world, please honor our fallen by remembering that our freedom is not an entitlement.\u00a0 Our freedom is a right that our men and women of the armed services\u00a0have earned and\u00a0unselfishly\u00a0hand\u00a0over to us Americans.<\/p>\n
