Savage Extractor Ejector Kit

The spring I received was not the same dimensions as the one previously in bolt. It was way to long and very skinny. I left the old spring in to be able to get detent ball and extractor in place.

Installed this kit when I had the extractor and ejector out of the bolt. This is a no brainer. Better made than the original parts and the result is improved extraction and ejection. Installs in just a couple of minutes after you figure out how to do it. Installed this with the bolt in a box because I did launch the spring and ball a couple of times till I got it in. A really nice upgrade.

Installing this kit eliminated what I consider the most common and needless problem with Savage bolt action rifles. The case extraction issue. Now, if I had a kit for the Mod 12 bolt I'd have all my issues with Savage set straight.

I’m sure anyone reading this experienced some version of: pulling your bolt back for the first time on your brand new savage 110 only to hear the brass drop off the bolt face and rattle around on top of the magazine. Take heart, this product will fix it. Right out of the box, my savage 110 tactical would only eject about 1/3 of the time. My suspicions as to why were confirmed by my local gunsmith, who thought the extractor didn’t to a good enough job holding onto the brass. I had him install this kit, and range time today was no longer an embarrassment.

Product performed as advertised and wasn't difficult to install

This is a great product. I wish I had gotten 1 as soon as I got my 12 FV. I’ve tried since I installed it to move the bolt slow enough to make it fail but it will not. I may order some more just to keep on hand in case I get some more Savages.

Installed on a new 110 Ultralight short action.
Seems to improve ejection slightly.
Most likely has been designed to improve older models.

The savage improved ejector and extraction kit turned out to be a fairly easy install, it works perfectly. It was a tremendous improvement for my firearm.

Did not solve the fail to eject problem and added another problem. Original problem: the shell would pull 3/4 back on extraction then fall off the bolt face without being ejected out the port. The new problem: the ejector extends beyond the bolt face and catches the round upon loading causing a failure to load. I ended up using the new extractor and new stronger spring with the original ejector...and still have the original problem of failure to eject.

Would not purchase. I purchased this for my savage axis rifle that was only extracting about half of the rounds I shot. The install was simple but the new extractor would not extract any of the rounds I shot. The ejector was good for about 100 rounds and then it got stuck down in the hole. After removing the keeper pin I had to pull out the ejector with pliers and found it was bent. So as far as I can tell I these are very cheap parts. Go with original at least they work half the time for half the money.

i got the parts to fix the extractor for my Savage Axis installed into the bolt as soon as they arrived. Unfortunately the made my problem worse. The shells won't even leave the bolt. The person I talked to said they have seen problems with Savage bolt tolerances, and the would send new parts as soon as they were ready. We will see. Still waiting

The kit really ejects the case much better. However it also made the bolt very hard to close, and the rifle’s accuracy was affected. I ended up taking it out and put the old parts back in.

TW NOTE: Explained to customer that with the new stainless steel parts sometimes after installation the bolt may be difficult to close. To fix this issue place an empty case in and slam the bolt. You may need to really work the bolt ~100 times to get things loosened up then should be good to go.

Recieved the new extractor kit and thus far has an improvement over the factory savage parts. Savage should change up what should be a simple upgrade and fix...very pleased.

parts are very well made and instalation was very simple and easy. the only thing that needs to be added to this kit is a new extractor spring to make it the ultimate upgrade kit for the Savage rifle. that is the only reason i gave it 4 stars.

The extractor is great, 10/10 would recommend to a friend, 100% necessary upgrade, I have had 0 cases failing to extract.

The ejector is hit or semi-miss because if you go slooooow the case the will fall off the extractor in the action and you have to dig them out, which was actually the case with the stock ejector all the time... so not really a bad thing. Now, if you pull the bolt back like you’re Ryan Cleckner showing off for a video for NSSF, it flings brass kinda like your favorite scary black assault weapon would.

Going at normal speed seems to be the sweet spot for saving brass and it reliably ejects every time landing within arms reach. It really tosses ‘em.

Love the stronger ejector spring and it now throws the casings reliably. But I took the extractor back out because it was so stiff that I couldn't get the bolt to close. I even tried hitting it with a mallet to close. I gave up after fighting it for half an hour and put the stock extractor back in. The bolt closes fine and it now throws the casing better so I call it good enough for govt work.

My axis 308 failed to extract about 20% of the time and when it did work the cases dropped out the side with no force. Installed this kit in about 10 minutes and have cycled empty brass and loaded rounds hundreds of times without failure. By design it will be harder to close the bolt because of the longer extractor has to be shoved over the case but I can live with that.

Excellent product. I installed this kit on my Savage 11 Scout .308, which was failing to eject brass approx. 30% of the time even as a new rifle. This kit installed in less than 5 minutes and provides much more consistent ejection. I even tried to get it to fail by turning the rifle on its left side so it would have to eject the brass straight up. I couldn't get it to fail. As a bonus, it arrived on my doorstep a day early (approx 2 days from ordering).

100% improvement over stock. Works as advertised and I would buy for another rifle when needed.

Huge improvement on stock savage ejector.

This is the most simple worthwhile upgrade to a Savage. They have the absolute worst extractors in the industry and that goes for all models. I have 3 Savage rifles and only one sort of worked right. Good shooters for the money but they really need this upgrade.

Best kit ever. The extractor alone solved my problem. My savage now ejects cases as a football kicker.
