The spring I received was not the same dimensions as the one previously in bolt. It was way to long and very skinny. I left the old spring in to be able to get detent ball and extractor in place.

Installed this kit when I had the extractor and ejector out of the bolt. This is a no brainer. Better made than the original parts and the result is improved extraction and ejection. Installs in just a couple of minutes after you figure out how to do it. Installed this with the bolt in a box because I did launch the spring and ball a couple of times till I got it in. A really nice upgrade.

Installing this kit eliminated what I consider the most common and needless problem with Savage bolt action rifles. The case extraction issue. Now, if I had a kit for the Mod 12 bolt I'd have all my issues with Savage set straight.

I’m sure anyone reading this experienced some version of: pulling your bolt back for the first time on your brand new savage 110 only to hear the brass drop off the bolt face and rattle around on top of the magazine. Take heart, this product will fix it. Right out of the box, my savage 110 tactical would only eject about 1/3 of the time. My suspicions as to why were confirmed by my local gunsmith, who thought the extractor didn’t to a good enough job holding onto the brass. I had him install this kit, and range time today was no longer an embarrassment.

This is a great product. I wish I had gotten 1 as soon as I got my 12 FV. I’ve tried since I installed it to move the bolt slow enough to make it fail but it will not. I may order some more just to keep on hand in case I get some more Savages.

Installed on a new 110 Ultralight short action.
Seems to improve ejection slightly.
Most likely has been designed to improve older models.

The savage improved ejector and extraction kit turned out to be a fairly easy install, it works perfectly. It was a tremendous improvement for my firearm.

Excellent product. I installed this kit on my Savage 11 Scout .308, which was failing to eject brass approx. 30% of the time even as a new rifle. This kit installed in less than 5 minutes and provides much more consistent ejection. I even tried to get it to fail by turning the rifle on its left side so it would have to eject the brass straight up. I couldn't get it to fail. As a bonus, it arrived on my doorstep a day early (approx 2 days from ordering).

100% improvement over stock. Works as advertised and I would buy for another rifle when needed.

Huge improvement on stock savage ejector.

This is the most simple worthwhile upgrade to a Savage. They have the absolute worst extractors in the industry and that goes for all models. I have 3 Savage rifles and only one sort of worked right. Good shooters for the money but they really need this upgrade.

Best kit ever. The extractor alone solved my problem. My savage now ejects cases as a football kicker.

Did a 300BO build with factory ejector extractor wouldn’t function properly. Fired cases wouldn’t extract properly.
Installed work properly.
Very easy to remove factory ejector - extractor and install new.

i was having nothing but problems with my new savage 110 "varmint" rifle electing brass. i saw this little package on-line and thought i'd give it a try.... it works better than great... solved the ejection problem right away. if savage was smart, they would work out a deal with "tactical works" and have them mfg these for all their rifles from now on....

Great Highly Recommended Product I put this in my 12FV that I had installed a PTG bolt head on and was having issues. No more. Works like it is supposed to. Better than it ever did in its original configuration. Even if you are not having problems, I would use these. If and when I get another Savage it will get 1 of these. Very, very enjoyable shopping experience. These guys are great.

Works as advertised. I changed just the extractor by itself and no real change. The real difference seems to be the ejector. It's squared off on the top, longer, and protrudes much higher than OEM. The replacement spring is longer and provides more oomph. Brass easly slings out where before it kinda just fell out.

Actually works. I've been shooting my rifle for years without reliable ejection, and just thought it was something I had to live with. Installed this kit and everything functions the way it was intended. Great product worth every penny!

I had a Savage 110 Storm LH in 6.5 Creedmoor only a few months old with less than 100 rounds down the barrel. In testing commercial ammo, I began to experience ejection problems with some brands being worse than others. Ejection with all was weak. This gun had the new Savage extractor style with one corner milled off and a ejector with an angled face. After studying the problem I figured it was most likely the extractor because unfired rounds ejected just fine. It just wouldn't hold the fired casing long enough to be ejected as the bolt moved rearward. I replaced only the extractor and ball with the Tactical works units. Completely solved the problem. Extraction and ejection is robust. Put around 50 rounds downrange since with zero failures. Fired cases will now eject more than 3 feet if I don't catch them.

Although I decided to keep the original Savage ejector, I did experiment with removing it. On the lefty bolt, insertion of the retainer pin is on the opposite side of the ejector. The pin must be almost fully inserted to reach the cutout in the ejector. The only way I could get it done was to use a pin very slightly smaller than 1/16 that could be inserted without force to hold the ejector in place while the factory pin was tapped in from the other side with a punch and hammer.

Function is very reliable a great improvement over original. Run about 100 rounds through the action has worked perfectly to date.

Great product, fixed my extraction issues. Even when running the bolt slow it throws the shell about a foot away. Very easy to install and awesome customer service in the fact that I was sent an email with instructions a day before the kit came so I had a good idea before I even started the install. I would definitely say this is a must have for any Savage rifle.

Great product. This kit does exactly what it is supposed to and better yet actually made my savage bolt useable. Throw cases plenty far now where as the stock parts left the case laying in the action.

I installed 4 of these kits in my Savage model 12's(2 .223's and 2 22-250's) for a recent prairie dog shoot. I had trouble with one rifle but it was caused by the original spring being bent. The only part reused by the way. I replaced the original spring, problem solved. At first there is some stiffness but it works out quickly as the parts wear in. All four rifles were used prior to the ejector kits being installed. The ejection process is pretty strong now even when you open the bolt slowly. Installation is straight forward. The instructions are clear even though it might make it seem hard to do install, it's not. The installation is easy. I highly recommend this kit.

New savage wouldn’t extract sometimes and wouldn’t eject 90% of the time. Off to google which led me to this kit. Just under 250 rds in and closing the bolt took some force initially but function is all good now.
