The Choate Stock is a very good upgrade to my 6.5 Creedmoor 24” HB by Howa. The OEM Stock was fine for normal operations but had to much flex in the for-end. I will say it had no problem with a Quarter MOA @100 - 200 yrds. Also Half MOA 300 - 400, well built Barreled Receiver by Howa. The Choate Stock with acquired torque specs went on with no problem, Start 20 Inch Lbs to 60 Inch Lbs with 5 Inch Lb increments. This was true in the start, but ended up with 85 Inch Lbs due to the bullet spread walking up the target. All trial and error but no complaints, Now if you are a tall person with LONG arms I will suggest you acquire the extension to the Butt stock (Comfort). In regards to your cheek weld make sure you acquire the riser for the stock combing. You will make note of this very fast once you change your stock over to the Choate, my OEM stock I created a built up riser for correct eye alignment in my scope. This is a great buy for that person who enjoys real good shooting and finding your Zone. Those who wonder about the weight, just fine it was just about were I had my OEM stock with weight added for balance. The rail on the bottom is a fine piece, this not only allows you to add your Bipod - with a couple of turns you can loosen you Bipod and slide back for down angled trajectory and still be in your Zone. Hope this helps!!!

Advantages: Balance Comfort

Disadvantages: None to Date

The stock arrived quickly and the quality was top notch. All workmanship was excellent, machining and molding. Excellent choice for the howa 1500 barrelled action setup.

Advantages: This was an affordable solution for a tactical stock for casual target shooting. LOP was perfect along with the rubber recoil pad. Also liked the adjustable sling to mount bipod in different positions.

Disadvantages: Palm Swell was wider than my previous varmit thumbhole stock, but I will adjust to it.

I really, like the stock ,well made ,very comfortable , and while shooting it ,it doesn't beat you up with recoil ,like the factory stock did. a very good buy for the money .

Advantages: Helps manage recoil, and the side inserts for the sling are great.

Disadvantages: None

Stock fit very well however the barrel channel was extremely, and, in my opinion, far to wide. I think a set screw at the barrel end of the sling swivel channel would be helpful in preventing the loss of the sling swivel when a bipod is not in place. I give this stock a 4/5 star rating.

Advantages: Good fit. Very rigid.

Disadvantages: See comments.

Nice quality stock with the best price around. Also got it with free shipping during a sale which is awesome. Tactical Works was really helpful and let me pay with 3 different cards since I had two rebate rewards cards. I did a recoil lug and tang bedding using Marine Tex since there was a little room forward to back, which is normal. Overall an excellent stock and value when compared to some of the others out there and I would definitely buy again. If you're building a bench gun and want the features that count without selling a kidney, this is the way to go. Best bang for your buck on Howa 1500, hands down.

Advantages: Fully aluminum bedding block and plenty of space to free float my heavy barrel Howa 1500 308. Nice and solid construction. The heavy weight in this case is good since it's a bench gun.

Disadvantages: The sling swivel studs sat in the stock loose so they were easy to spin, but so loose that they rattled and made noise. I unscrewed them, and added an A011 o-ring (5/16"x7/16"x1/16") between the aluminum and the stud and that fixed it.

I bought this stock to replace a Blackhawk stock that came with the 223 caliper howa. The original stock was a bit to flexible shooting in the prone position. The new choate stock did the trick. My group was reduced to about 2 inches at 350 yards with a 55 grain pointed soft point and 24.5 grains of 2015 accurate.

Advantages: added accuracy and a stable shooting position. I also replaced the trigger, I now have a relatively cheap rifle that shoots a cheap reload well at 350 yards.

Disadvantages: none its all good.

This has to be the best deal in stocks. It is a solid foundation for whatever you intend to do with your rifle. This is a must buy.

I did have to remove a small piece (half of a dime) of overflow plastic in the receiver area. It only took me a few minutes to collect the proper tool and complete the job. Other than that, I had no other issues assembling the rifle.

Advantages: Solid foundation. No more flimsy plastic

Disadvantages: It is heavy, if that is a concern.

Product came right on time and packaged sufficiently. The staff were very helpful in answering some questions I had pertaining to build quality. This stock is all as advertised and SOLID as a rock. My Howa barreled action seemed to drop right in and the factory trigger guard fit like a glove too. The weight is hefty and for a varmint rifle that's ok.its not going to be one for the long walk.

Advantages: Leaps and bounds better than the factory stock. Barrel channel is generous enough for barrel blanks if that's what your into. Easy drop in fit.
Stiffness, the aluminum bedding block is solid.

Disadvantages: For some the Weight.
The bipod adaptor may give on some models of bipods. A set screw would alleviate it I read in some of the reviews.
The sling swivel attachment points only fit the small end slings.

A solid bench-rest stock with an excellent aluminum foundation for the Howa 1500 SA barreled action. I have an unfired 6mm Creedmoor that came with a competitor's over-molded stock. The forend was so spongy I set it aside and used adjustable laminate stocks from a Norwegian company for several other Howa barreled actions. I decided to try a Choate and am happy with the quality. Still need to break in the barrel and add some spacers, but I like the solid feel of the stock. The Anshutz rail and side sling mounts are great features, too.

Advantages: A great platform for long-range and varmint shooting. Anshutz rail makes bipod positioning and takedown easy. Solid aluminum receiver mounts for consistent accuracy.

Disadvantages: Maybe too heavy for field carry, if weight is an issue. Spacers are a must if you need a LOP of more than 13+ inches.
