Tactical Works, Inc. announces new dealer relationship with Mission First Tactical, MFT of Bensalem, PA.

June, 19th, 2013

DENVER, CO – Tactical Works, Inc. announced that they are now a stocking dealer for Mission First Tactical  or MFT.   A representative of  Team Tactical Works stated that they decided to offer MFT products primarily to complement the Tac21 Chassis System.  “Many operators want a folding or collapsible stock for their long range weapons platform to help with concealbility and maneuverability. MFT’s BATTLELINK Utility Stock or BUS, is a solid stock and one of the few adjustable AR15 stocks that has an adjustable cheek piece. After visiting with MFT at ShotShow 2013, we decided that we would offer most of their products to our AR15 community and as an option for the chassis systems that we offer.  The decision made sense because MFT offers a “bulletproof” solution and they are made in the USA.”

As their mission states, Mission First Tactical develops select rifle/carbine accessories specifically for the Military and Law Enforcement markets.  Civilian shooters too benefit from receiving leading edge/affordable products.  The design of MFT’s accessories centers on the need for enhanced accuracy and functionality of the weapons systems improving Operator effectiveness.  MFT accessories aid in rapid target acquisition and rapid, repeatable, accurate shot sequences.  Developed and manufactured entirely in the USA.

Bill Springfield AR 15 Fire Control Group

Tactical Works, Inc. announced today that they will now be inventorying Bill Springfield’s AR15 Fire Control Groups.

Bill has been cleaning up AR-15 Triggers for years and his reputation in the industry speaks for itself.  Tactical Works, Inc. has teamed up with Bill Springfield to offer three AR-15 fire control groups.

The 4lb single stage fire control group is cleaned up and offers a very short, smooth, clean break. In addition all 4lb fire control groups will have the “speed hammer” modification for faster primer ignition. The 4lb fire control group is recommended for duty and field rifles.

The 3lb single stage fire control group is again shortened and cleaned up to provide a crisp break. The 3lb fire control group also includes the “speed hammer” modification for faster primer ignition. The 3lb fire control group is recommended for long range work and target shooting.

The 2.5lb fire control group  lightens up the trigger pull a little further with the help of of a JP Match spring set. The 2.5lb fire control group should specifically be used for target and long range work.

*The Speed hammer modification involves removing the hammer tail and area is refinished. Professional target shooters appreciate this modification for its faster primer ignition and its extra insurance for igniting hard primer military ammunition.

Patrol Carbine

Patrol Carbine AR15

Patrol Carbine AR15

This build had a few requirements that needed to be met. The most challenging was bring the project in under budget which was pretty tight.

The need was for an all around maneuverable entry-level training carbine that would adapt nicely to a tall shooter while remaining light weight and fairly accurate inside of 300 yards.

Once funds are available, this carbine will dawn an optic/red dot, railed hand guard, one point sling, and a weapon light.

Immediately thoughts turned to an A2 stock to satisfy LOP and the budget however, a collapsible stock was on the “nice to have” list. The Ergo F93 Pro Stock adjusts from 8″ to 12″ when fully extended helping to add 1 & 1/2″  LOP over the A2 fixed stock helping to accommodate a tall shooter and at the same time addressing the “nice to have” collapsible stock.

A Lightweight DPMS  16″ barrel with a 1:9 twist helps keep the overall weight down and will stabilize 55 grain bullets for training as well as heavier bullets for longer work. The upper components, bolt, carrier, receiver, etc. were also DPMS.

A Mckay Enterprises “No Logo” lower receiver was chosen because of the sleek look and competitive price. To aid in training in the Colorado cold weather a Magpul Enhanced Trigger guard was installed.

To complete the rifle a Magpul rear sight added and 2 Magpul 30 round magazines.

  • DPMS 16″ Carbine Upper Receiver,
  • DPMS 5.56 1:9 Lightweight Barrel,
  • CAR Hand Guards,
  • A2 Front Sight
  • Magpul MBUS Rear Sight
  • Falcon Industries Ergo F93 8-position stock
  • Magpul 30-Round Magazines
  • Mckay Enterprises Lower Receiver
  • Allen Gun Bag
  • Magpul Enhanced Trigger Guard
  • Falcon Industries Ambidextrous Sling Plate

Overall, the build went very smooth. The first range visit for testing and barrel break-in provided successful results. At 50 yards with no zero all shots sent down range (10) hit the intended target, a paper plate. When time is available, we will zero the sights and test from 50 yds. to 200 yds.  We expect to experience tighter more consistent groupings.

Mission Accomplished!

Installation of the Magpul MOE Trigger Guard

Magpul MOE Trigger Guard

Installing the Magpul MOE/Enhanced Trigger Guard

Flat hinged trigger guards  are standard equipment with most AR15s and AR Lower Parts Kits (LPK) and leave a little to be desired.   The annoying gap between the standard trigger guard and the grip can tend to get uncomfortable during long shooting sessions and needs to be “folded” open to accommodate larger cold weather gloves.

“Black Rifle” Long Range Project

Posted in AR15, Tactical Works Home on November 4th, 2009 by Team TW

Many of the shooters we talk with have the same passion as we do. We love to shoot and we tend to have more than a few platforms to choose from when we exercise this passion.

Many sportsmen are now including the ominous “Black Rifle”  as a useful tool their shooting/hunting “tool belt”.  One of the great features of the AR15 is its modularity.  The AR15 platform allows the shooter and hunter alike to “design build” the rifle that best suites their needs for the conditions and targets that may cross their sites.  In addition, the ability to simply add and remove accessories helps mitigate the need for several rifles for differing conditions. With the AR15 it is very possible to punch paper during the day, swap the scope for night vision and go hog hunting that night.

In reality, a single AR15 receiver could be the platform for an unlimited number of rifle configurations. Tactical CQC, Varmint, Urban Sniper, Service Rifle, and on and on.

We are going to start a series of 3 “Black Rifle Builds” to include a long-range paper/varmint puncher, coyote/predator, and a basic minimum budget service rifle.

The first of our three builds will be the minimum budget service rifle. We’ll then move onto the Long Range Varmint Rifle. Third, we intentionally didn’t say last because we all know how addicting building ARs’ is and we’re pretty sure this will not be our last, a  dedicated predator hunter.

More to come soon.
